Continued Prayers

By Dean Collins

Friends, as many of you may already know, I plan to retire as president of Point University on June 30, 2025. It has been a joy and a privilege to serve God through my work at Point over the last two decades, so this announcement is bittersweet. But after a time of prayer and reflection, my wife, Penny, and I believe now is the right time to make this move. The board has already appointed a search committee and engaged a search firm, and they have asked me to remain in a part-time role as chancellor. In that role, I'll assist with the presidential transition, strategic partnerships and other special projects.

I will continue to write my daily devotionals this year and beyond, as long as the Lord gives me the ability to do so. I ask that my readers pray for me, as I want to finish this role well. Please also pray that in my retirement from the presidency, God will show me how to best help Point University and others in my next season.

This prayer of the apostle Paul in Colossians seems fitting for me to pray over my readers, as well as the Point University trustees, as they embark on their selection of the next president. I ask that you pray this over me, too, as I finish this school year and begin to imagine what God has for me next.

“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
