The Israelites sang when water sprang up from the well in Numbers 21. Why? Because they recognized the source. God not only provided miraculously; He invited His people to participate and then respond with praise.

Remember, the enemy is subtle and seeks to confuse and distort God’s word. Whatever temptation, crisis, or burden we face next, our best path forward is to read the word of God, pray the word of God, and trust the word of God.

Remembering the “other side” of our hardships strengthens our faith and invites others to see the faithfulness of a God who still fights for His people.

The Israelites' repeated failures to obey God’s commandments serve as a backdrop to Jesus’ obedience, where He exemplifies the power of doing God’s word, even in the face of temptation.

God’s constant presence with the Israelites was marked by a cloud by day and fire by night, symbolizing His unwavering commitment to be with His people, a presence that continues today through the Holy Spirit.

“God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land.” And sometimes he chooses a longer route for us, too.
